Ladies and Jebs (Ladies and Gents, get it?),

Here at Jeb Kennedy Industries, we think it's high time for another month of illustration. So we decide that April will be dedicated to the thing we love/fear most (but mostly love): Women. Being mostly comprised of 100% dudes, we thought it was getting a little too male-centric around here at Jeb Kennedy. Which is natural since we just draw men better, and are generally terrified of the female form! But April is all about turning over a new new leaf, pushing those paralyzing fears to the back of our minds, and plowing forward into uncharted waters (hold my hand, guys!).

So sit back, relax, and get ready to get in touch with our feminine sides. "Ladies & Jebs" starts in one week!

Happy Friday the 13th everybody! Exactly one more week until the premier of "The Dark Knight Rises". Crazy, huh? In celebration I have a grab bag of images to post today. First up is another addition to the smash hit (read: not a smash hit) "Gotham Sweaty" series, described by one of my brothers as "like a joke that isn't really funny but you keep doing..."!

PLEASE HOLD YOUR APPLAUSE. Next here is a piece inspired by "Adventure Time" and a little "Regular Show", titled "Hard Justice".

AND LASTLY: A trip down memory lane. Here are a few things I found while moving out of my parent's house last christmas.

1) A 1997 edition of The Dallas Morning News, reviewing Batman and Robin (I think I kept it for the pictures). Movie critic Phillip Wuntch gave the film a very generous "2 Stars". 2) A drawing of Batman I made when I was a kid (not sure of the date on this). Please note the incredibly tiny torso. I think I had terrible body image issues. 3) A rare childhood photo of me wearing a....you guessed it! Batman Forever shirt (I was obsessed).

I have a bunch more embarrassing batman drawings/comics that I may post next Friday.

My first actual piece of "The Dark Knight Rises" fan art. I spent way too long on this, but nearly all of it was just trying to get Bane to look like Bane. That's pretty difficult for me for some reason.

Also, my art hero Mike Mitchell recently started doing a series of fat bird paintings. You have no idea how happy this makes me. Which reminds me I still need to finish my series of "burds" eventually...

Welcome Dear Reader to Jeb Kennedy's "Batman Buildup", an ENTIRE MONTH of Batman fan art, leading up to the release of "The Dark Knight Rises" on July 20th. You may be thinking "Boys boys boys. A whole month of Batman art? Like every day??? INSANITY!" And you would be completely right. Between summer plans and business trips, along with our own Kyle Blair being MIA until August, it will be difficult to challenge to post every day. BUT LADIES AND GENTLEMEN THAT IS THE CHALLENGE I PRESENT TO YOU TODAY. Fueled by our love of all things Gotham City, in addition to a little help from a few friends along the the way, I believe that we can  (sort of maybe) accomplish this lofty goal. 

This month is particularly special for Jeb Kennedy. All of us were obsessed with Batman from a very early age. I would even dare to say that if it were not for Batman (specifically Bruce Timm's masterpiece "Batman: The Animated Series") I probably would not have pursued a career in illustration. So all the art you see this month, while widely varied in tone and style, all comes from a place of sincere love and respect for this iconic character. 

Thanks again for your continued support as we seek out new ways to share our passion for illustration, comics, and Batman.

when i was in grade school i had a red and black bicycle that i rode every afternoon. my mom would get upset with me because i braked by putting my feet on the ground, fred flintstone style. i would go through a pair of sneakers in about 2 months.

you should probably watch this commencement speech by neil gaiman. and then watch it at least once a week for the rest of your life.
