Month O' Monsters 2016 - The Seventh Post

Here are the remaining three (of six total) prints from the my Scewby Dewd series. Like I wrote before, these pieces are mashup screen prints, created by layering images, patterns and colors. When going through the imagery that I would be using for these prints, I was inspired by the juxtaposition of retro monsters combined with pretty ladies modeling mid-century hair and clothing. These combinations reminded me of the fun of the old Scooby Doo cartoons. I tried to choose a color palette that matched the zaniness and spookiness of the series, and the rest is history! - Kyle Blair

Month of Monsters IV: Sasquatch Sighting

Hey, y'alls! Here's a little something I have been working on.

Decided to take some time out recently to start getting a basic understanding of some very basic animation. I'm really just wanting to know enough to be able to do little gags and goofs here and there, and also to be able to work with animators in the future without sounding like a total doofus!

This one is something I've been working on here and there over this month. I may end up throwing more into it, or move on to a new project to learn more. I'm posting this one as a video for size reasons, but I've made it as a continuous loop in another format to go on forever and ever and ever and ever and ever and ever, (if I wanted it to).

Whelp! We are officially past the halfway point of this year's Month of Monsters! There's no turning back now. Here's #3 in my series of spooky cereals for your hungry inner child.

Fair Warning: This could be the scariest post so far...

(The timing for this one worked out perfectly with the season premiere of The Walking Dead last night. Anyone watch that? Super gross.)

Nude Bruce Review

Nude Bruce Review, by their own admission, is "a literary journal, seeking to publish the very best emerging and established poets and writers from Arkansas and beyond."

A while back, when the very first issue of NBR* was being published, the editors asked Jeb member, Jason Flack, to illustrate the character of "Nude Bruce" for the very first time. Now on issue 3, the editors asked another Jeb, Kyle Blair, to illustrate Bruce in his style. (The plan is to eventually have each Jeb member illustrate his own version of the character, much like the characters of the Jeb universe.)

You can follow Nude Bruce Review on their facebook page, and/or download the latest issue from their website.

*NBR is another way of referring to Nude Bruce Review. Now you know.

The 12 Days of Jebmas: STOLE TRAIN Day 9

“How will we catch them now? The train’s picking up speed!” His deputy laughed, “Always have an ACE up yer sleeve!” From inside the train car, Ace grabbed nine skates, of course! A pair for them each and five for the horse!

Happy Halloween from Jeb Kennedy!!

Here's my turn to say Happy Halloween, and thanks again! We look forward to The Month of Monsters all year, and it's extra special when you guys enjoy it with us.

Here's to another year of making art together, and staying inspired!

(You may recognize this guy from a certain movie franchise that rhymes with "toast clusters".)

Month O' Monsters Day #16: Pacific Rim

To fight monsters, we created monsters...

Today's illustration is a fan art poster for the movie, Pacific Rim. This movie draws a lot of it's influence from old giant monster movies, so the idea was to make somewhat of a throwback poster for it. If you haven't already, you should check out the film. It's a lot of fun, and chock-full of monsters.

Month O' Monsters Day #2: The Trophy Room

Happy Day Two of the Month of Monsters!

For my first illustration this year, I decided to create a piece as an end to the series I did for last year's Month of Monsters. For those of you who are just joining us, or for those who may not remember my series from last year, (fair weather fans), you can see them here.

Thanks for joining us for this, you guys. We look forward to this month all year. It's a joy to do what we do, and I hope it can bring you a little happiness too!   -KB

Art Ketchup

Hello, my little Jebbers and Jebblets! Yesterday John very kindly, gently, warmly, softly, gracefully, brought to my attention that I have had some new art finished for a while, and I have been keeping it all to myself. So now I am here to catch up with all you little cowpokes and show you some of the stuff I've been up to lately. Special thanks to John for keeping me accountable.

WARNING: Some of this stuff could be old news to you if you follow my other websites at all.

Up first is an illustration that has been swimming around in my head for a while, but I just needed some free time to whip it up. I'm pleased with how it turned out, and I got a lot of good feedback on it. So thanks to viewers like you!

I recently returned from a trip back home to California. I was exhausted when I got back, and really just needed a day of sitting in bed, zoning out, and working on something. The illustration works as a repeating pattern too, so you turkeys are free to use it. Go crazy! I like to call them "Pineapple Idols". Extra credit to the students who noticed the Tim Heidecker reference thrown in.

This next little guy was inspired by my trip to South Africa last summer with some friends. It was just a fun thing to do to commemorate our trip. Behind the scenes trivia: I selected me colors based on the SA flag.

This here is sticker I designed for the band, Listener. These super-talented guys just released this top 40 album not to long ago, and are really killing it right now. It's awesome to do some work for a band that is just getting better all the time. You can get their new music at this link, or even buy some sa-weet vinyl, cool t-shirts, etc. The sticker is based on the Pep Boys logo, and features the three members of the band.

Prep Boyz:

Next is more work for another awesome band. You may remember Bear Suit Sucker Punch from the awesome Jebmas song the made for us last year. These guys are very close friends of us Jeb guys, and I'm a huge fan of their music. Below is some album art I did for them for their single "March of the Pigs", (and "Chasing the Night Away"). Check out their site here to learn more about the band, check tour dates, or get the best free punk rock your money can buy.

I could show some other stuff, but a lot of it is boring design stuff, and I want to keep Jeb a safe refuge from boring. So only fun and fancy free stuff here. Thanks for taking a look!

Ladies and Jebs #11

It's week four of Ladies & Jebs, which also means it is our last full week of lady-art. We didn't know if we would make it this far, but we are on the home stretch!

Here we have yet another ocean-themed lady illustration. Maybe that's too many ocean girls for your taste, but hey, plenty o' fish in the sea! Right, ladies?!

Ladies?
