Gallery Recap/Reflection

I didn't really become interested or involved in the "fine art" scene until my Junior year of college; but as soon as I saw pictures of artists displaying their work in galleries, creating works of art just for the purpose of viewing (no advertising or "graphic design" nonsense), I knew that was what I wanted to pursue with my art.

Naturally, I don’t consider my work to be “fine art” just yet, and I’m still a long way from displaying my work in fancy galleries. But last Friday, along with three of the most talented and creative artists that I know, I got to have my very first (very small) gallery show.

“Jeb Kennedy Presents: The State of the Union Art Show & Cabaret” was, in all honesty, 10x the success that I thought it would be. We had probably 50-60 people come through during the 3 hour period that we held the show, and everyone seemed to have a very good time!

My favorite part of the night was looking around and seeing people chatting with each other, drinking coffee, laughing, and generally having a good time. Nowhere was the stiff, awkward silence that I was worried would become prevalent; instead people were enjoying the art and having fun! The whole atmosphere was very relaxed.

So what’s next for boys of Jeb Kennedy? I really have no idea. Personally, I think it would be great to further expand on the character of Jeb Kennedy and perhaps do an entire show based on him (I’ll have to discuss it with my fellow artists, but it seemed to be a common request from gallery attendees).

Anyway, thanks soooooo much to everyone that came out last Friday, you really made us artists happy. Keep your eyes on this blog for the latest Jeb Kennedy update!
